James From Jersey (James R Smiley) is an Irvington, NJ native artists born in Newark, NJ. He began his career investing his own money from work/side hustles into a vision. Creating a sound through knowledge acquired in the field of internships, and freelance work. Inspired early on by legendary hip hop acts Run DMC, local talent naughty by nature, and Tupac Shakur. Cultured with a love for writing lyrics, and experimentation with drum patterns at the age of 7. This eventually lead to building his own corner of the universe. Writing, composing, producing, and performing his own music makes him versatile. Mixing in the best of both worlds old, and new makes him TIMELESS!!! From storytelling themes, catchy hooks, love songs, to hard hitting metaphors/analogies he makes music for every mood.
